This is a blogspot page to talk comment and see frogs pictures...
For a first start, the last article I've read about amphibians, reptiles was called Empty Pits written by David J Gower in the newpapers. A book was written - and promoted in the article- Mean And Lowly Things, snakes, sciences, and survival in the Congo; by Kate Jackson; Harvard University Press.
My opinion concerning taxonomy in the field is that it's collect species in order to conserve them later which do not help at all to preserve biodiversity in some areas and do not protect anything at all because as soon as the studies leaves...everything goes back to the same way it was.
well... be back later..crickets are wandering around and i must catch them....to protect my cat !

well, if you do not collect how are you going to know if there is a new specie? plus, how are you going to get one for your terrarium so you can observe and enjoy: collecting is OK, if it is done properly. (Soeur volante commenting!)
ReplyDeleteof course it is ! its just that new species sometimes just have a restricted number of individuals whom can be badly outnumbered (?) by collectors which does not preserve the species at all !
